Working together to end domestic violence and abuse.

Last New Year’s Day saw more than the traditional Welsh Rugby derby between the Scarlets and the Ospreys at Parc Y Scarlets.

Prior to the main event, representatives from the local police force arranged a pre-Derby match between the police and fire brigade in aid of White Ribbon Day, a global movement which aims to stop male violence against women and girls. As a gesture of support, the Scarlet’s players and team mascots all wore white ribbons on the day and voiced their support of the message behind the campaign.

Calan DVS Amman Valley were pleased to be one of the organisations represented at this event with an eye -catching stall which attracted none less than the Welsh International, Liam Williams who also took a White Ribbon to wear himself.  In addition to the rugby match, the event also included family and children’s activities as well as a live band.

Inspector Mann, the main organiser of the event, has sent us and all other supporting organisations, a message of thanks for our contribution to this very successful awareness raising day.  The icing on the cake was a win for the Scarlets on the day!
