Calan DVS has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Communications’ and ‘Good Governance’ categories at this year’s WCVA Welsh Third Sector Awards.

The Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) is a national organisation that supports the third sector and volunteering across Wales. It champions the work of voluntary organisations, individual volunteering, and community groups in order to make Wales a better place, and to build a strong and active third sector that will help to create a fair and healthy society.

Each year, the WCVA hosts the Welsh Third Sector Awards, supported by Class Telecommunications. These awards were developed in order to honour the hard work and incredible achievements of the groups and individuals working within the third sector in Wales.

To highlight the wide range of work done in the third sector in Wales, the Awards consist of six different categories. These are the class award for best communications, the environmental award, the health, social care and wellbeing award, the award for good governance, the award for innovative fundraising and the award for the most admired organisation.

Calan DVS are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted in two of these categories – The class award for best communications, for groups with effective or innovative ways of communicating their message to service users and volunteers, and the award for good governance, which recognises those groups whose trustees ensure their organisation is well run and exemplar.

There are 19 groups and organisations that have been shortlisted from a wide range of different charity areas, including dementia, smoking, clothing recycling, the environment, food distribution, housing, and many more that all work hard to improve the lives of other people in Wales

The awards ceremony will take place at the Marriott hotel in Cardiff on January 29th, and will be hosted by BBC Wales presenter Jason Mohammad.
