The Calan DVS South Powys Team made the move to new offices at the beginning of February to reflect the expansion of services, particularly in the community.
The new South Powys work base is within the Brecon Beacon National Parks Authority building in the town of Brecon, in Mid Wales. It has a Main Office which accommodates the local Community Services, Child, Refuge and Project Support staff. The Meeting Room comfortably hosts ten people, and there is a Management Office and a new northern office base for our Chief Executive, Katie Blackburn.
The new, larger facilities are more reflective of the professionalism of the Team and offer the capacity to hold training sessions, meetings, and other activities which extend support to individuals and families recovering from the effects of controlling, abusive, and often violent relationships. The building has good access and parking, and is within walking distance of the local council office and police station.
The South Powys Team of Calan Domestic Violence Services provide a range of immediate and long term support for individuals and families experiencing domestic violence and abuse:
- Safe accommodation for women and children
- Crisis intervention and support for women and men in their own homes and in their communities
- Information and support
- Specialist support for children and young people.
