We were honoured to be invited to Cynnfig Comprehensive School in Bridgend by three students, Nia, Lacey and Brittany. These three girls had chosen our service to research and do a presentation about to show others about the how big a social issue domestic abuse is. Their presentation was one of 6 from 25 that had been chosen to be entered into a competition to win part of a cash prize for their chosen charity.
The three girls showed great maturity and confidence speaking about what can be a very difficult subject matter, they had produced their own powerful video with hand drawn sketches which was part of their powerpoint presentation and they were able to answer questions from the panel of judges afterwards.
We were absolutely delighted when it was announced that they were runners up and had won £250 for Calan DVS. We would like to congratulate the school on an excellent, inspiring evening and for becoming the first school in Wales to participate in this scheme run by First Give Uk, who work in partnership with secondary schools to help young people to give their time , tenacity and talents to improve their local communities.
