Working together to end domestic violence and abuse.

It can be difficult for families who are staying in our refuges or who have experienced/ are experiencing domestic abuse, but it can be extra difficult at this time of year.

We have been overwhelmed by the support shown to our clients this Christmas, we know that times are hard for everyone but the thoughtfulness and kindness displayed to all of our service users has been amazing.

Gifts from Hope ChurchWe would just like to thank everyone for their kindness for donating gifts to the women and children in the refuge this Christmas. We have received food from various foodbanks across the regions that Calan DVS operates ensuring that families will have a full stomach along with the little extra treats that we can take for granted over the festive period such as mince pies and chocolates.

Cynider quilts Christmas is known as a time for families but this can be an upsetting and difficult time for the families who are staying with us, as some of our residents have had to leave their home towns and will be unable to see their friends and family, to know that people are thinking about them and care about them makes such a difference.

Some families come to us with only what they can carry and sometimes with what they are standing in. So the generous gifts that they receive make a massive difference to the women who are only able to provide little in the way of gifts because of their current situation and bring a smile to the children’s faces on Christmas day, as well as  bringing comfort and peace of mind  to the mothers.

We would like to send out a special thanks to:

Lush in Swansea who were kind enough to give a donation of goodies for Neath and Pontardawe refuges.

We had donations of food, Christmas food, chocolates and toiletries for refuge,  from the Mothers union of Clydach and Ystalyfera.

And also to all anonymous donors who have brought gifts to our offices who haven’t left their names If we have missed anyone out, we apologise .

Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year
